My husband requested socks knit up from the Game of Thrones Dragons set colors. He wanted a mismatched pair of (spoiler) “whichever ones are still alive”, so he got one Drogon (red) and one Rhaegal (green) with Viserion (gold) toes, heels, and cuffs. He loves them and is going to parade around in them when Season 8 of Game of Thrones premiers in April. I knit them on my High Twist Merino Tencel Sock base. I broke into 3 skeins, so I have enough to make 2 more pairs for myself! I have some of these sets left, and on my Natural Sock bases. I realize buying 3 skeins of yarn for 1 pair of socks is a lot, so let me know if you’d be interested in Dragons sock sets in some capacity!
I know it’s not the right season for Pumpkin Spice Everything, but I recently was reminded of my PSL colorway. A customer asked me to turn skein of Merino Silk Sock into a sock tube on my circular sock machine. It is so fantastic looking, I need to recreate PSL since it started out as a “Once in a Lifetime” colorway to reduce excess dye waste. Anywho, that’ll be in development for this year for sure!
March is pretty great. March Madness, Pi Day, the Ides of March, St. Paddy’s Day. Let’s make it even better with a discount on sock sets! You’ll get 15% off automatically now through St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17th! I know you love socks, you know I love natural yarn & you! Click “Shop” above and either find these sock sets here or through Etsy!
Over the last few years, I’ve become aware of how lucky I am to have the things in my life. I’ve been able to stop working a conventional Job to stay home with my boys, and my husband’s exceptionally hard work as a doctor-in-training has finally paid off when he got his big boy job this past July.
One of the physical things I was lucky enough to receive for Christmas was a circular sock knitting machine. You may know that those contraptions don’t come cheap. I was interested in it partially because I really want a full sock drawer for myself and my husband, partially because I would love to make shop samples of my colorways (eventually I will vend some kind of yarny event!), and because I love giving handmade gifts – and who wouldn’t love handmade socks?
So with acquiring the knitting machine, my knitting for this year is focused around giving. Everyone is getting handmade socks. Maybe I feel like I don’t deserve to be so lucky and need to earn my (and my machine’s) keep, but whatever it is, I’m happy to be spreading the wealth of handmade knitwear.
I wanted to highlight the subtle differences of how these 4 bases take their Dragon dye. Drogon is red & black, Rhaegal is green & bronze, and Viserion is cream & gold with bronze speckles.
